Camp White 2008

Tonight I was excited to be invited along to Camp White 2008 presented by Lloyd White, partner Mark, family and friends. There was a tasty dinner, entertaining conversation and plenty of green goodies to gander at.

I have been reading the Recon G503 section of Army Motors since I have become a member and have always been in awe of the sheer knowledge of Lloyd and his ability to present technical MV information in the written form. Now that I have been able to see his collection and how he is involved, it is easy to see where he gained this tremendous ability.

There were certainly many vehicles of special interest that not many would ever get to see in an entire lifetime. I am kicking myself for not being prepared for this to provide informational justice of what was there. I SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT A NOTE PAD! Don’t shred me for my poor information. I did not think I would see vehicles of such rarity. My personal favorite would the CCKW engineering rig with the giant air compressor in the rear to provide proper air supply for the pneumatic tools that actually came with the vehicle. Take a look at the pictures in the photo album to provide a much better perspective.

There are a few other vehicles that I have not seen before outside of a magazine that deserve good mention. I would have enjoyed providing good information on them however in this case I againg encourage you to look at the pictures for the best information I can provide.

Have fun looking!

Portland Preview

Today could not have worked out better for the starting of the MVPA National Portland show 2008. Jon Bircheff and I arrived at the about 1:00 oclock in the afternoon just before they started positioning vehicles inside which allowed us to pull right inside to unload everything Jon was bringing to show with ease. There was a fork lift ready to go and great driver ready to help out.

Arriving early provided a great opportunity to take some uninterrupted photos of the early birds who made it in with their vehicles. I will be posting many more over the next few days as things progress so stay tuned.

Feel free to comment on the photos in the album.

Enjoy!

My New M38A1

This winter has been a crazy on and I have not been able to do anything worth mentioning in regards to MV's. This summer will be shaping up differently for me now that I just picked my new 1951 M38. I am so excited I cant stand it. This thing is as original complete as they come. It has all its data plates, including the Willy Overland factory stamp located on the right wheel well as well as. The only thing not original is the carburetor (no complaints here).

When looking it over I noticed all of what identifies it as a radio wagon. It even still has one of the connectors in the floor. The neat part is that my dad has everything that it will take to get it loaded up with all of its radio gear.

M 274 Mule A5

Check out the Mule I just picked up from some good internet searching.

I am excited about this one. Fuel tank is solid and mostly straight. Linkage is clean. Deck has no dents. Clutch and brakes engage. Has all data plates. Includes tow bar. Has most of its original hardware. All is original other than the seats that I just put on.

It has been living in a barn for the past eight years and was used as a corporate fun ride for kids.

XM443 Split Rims?

Someone contacted me from my website today asking if I knew where to find split rims for a military vehicle that his father owns. He said that they have been looking for years.

Once I found out what he had I quickly understood why he was having a hard time. Have any of you heard of the Willy's Xm433 before? I would sure like to help him out.

He took pictures of the manual he had and sent them to me from his cell phone. I am waiting for him to send pictures of the actual.

Pictures are posted in the photo album. Here is the only website that had any information at all. It shows two versions.
